On Saturday, January 8th, we celebrated Ethiopian Christmas. It was a blast and an awesome time to connect with other families with Ethiopian children! This is the third year we have gone and it is always fun to see all of the kids together and eat yummy Ethiopian food. While Christmas isn't a primary holiday in Ethiopia, it gives us a chance to incorporate Ethiopian culture into our family traditions in a way that our children can understand a little easier. Traditionally, if a family can afford it, children receive a new outfit on Genna. We are going to try to keep that tradition - it's a good excuse for Melissa to shop the "after-Christmas" sales!! Here is a little bit about some of Ethiopian cultural celebrations.
